Kind words

Fiona Acheson – Creative Director, Acheson & Acheson

Kate is an absolute joy to work with. Her innate marketing knowledge married with her excellent copywriting skills has meant that whether we have been working on complex brand work or needed a swift piece of copy she has always delivered  outstanding results. It is always a pleasure working with Kate and I would recommend her without reservation.

Al Shariat – Director, Coconut Merchant Ltd

To describe Kate as just a consultant would be a vast understatement. She has a unique passion and commitment that is rare among people of her profession, taking a genuine interest in the issues affecting our business and team. She has a broad range of skills and years of wisdom we couldn’t do without, in many ways acting as a sage sounding board for my staff and the founders. Kate is more than just external help, she is part of our business family.

Helen Twigge-Molecay – Director, My Wonder Ltd

It was lovely to meet you yesterday and thanks so much for your time.

You were brilliant and insightful and I found it really helpful. It was even better than I had hoped – and you had come highly recommended!

Judy Piatkus – Founder, ConsciousCafe

I have worked with Kate Cowan for 4 years on a freelance basis.  My organisation ConsciousCafe hired Kate to advise on our overall  and continuing marketing strategy and on a one-day conference in London. Kate has always been completely professional in all our dealings while at the same time being very easy to work with. At the start of our relationship we worked closely on brand positioning and logo and website design, content and organisation. For the conference, Kate worked hard on our behalf, going the extra mile when it was necessary, and doing everything she could to ensure that all participants and venue staff were clearly briefed and everything ran smoothly.  Afterwards several participants remarked on how it had been one of the best organised conferences they had ever attended. Aside from the early positioning work and the  conference period, she has continued to be helpful, taking time when necessary to reflect on various challenges and subsequently provide practical solutions which she has thought through carefully. We look forward to continuing our association with her as our organisation grows. We would not have achieved as much as we have without her valuable contribution.

Mike Doughty – Director,   Meercat Associates

Meercat Associates approached Fox Brand Marketing to assist in the branding and positioning strategy for a new offering we were launching – Heroes.

Kate helped us identify what Heroes would stand for and how we would present it to our clients and partners.  In addition to creating a Brand Pyramid to position our new brand, FBM also took care of all the marketing materials we needed, overseeing the design work and liaising between us and the designers.

Meercat Associates already had a different offering that at first glance was similar to Heroes, Fox Brand Marketing showed us how to position these two offerings in such a way that their differences were clear.

I particularly liked that Kate challenged our ideas for Heroes, rather than just going along with them, thus resulting in a much stronger solution overall.

I would recommend Fox Brand Marketing primarily if you need excellent strategic advice on Brand launching and positioning, however we were pleased with all the work they did.

Sophie Maunder-Allan – CEO, VCCP Partnership http://www.vccp.com

Kate has a truly enquiring mind, a rare ability to genuinely listen, and an amazing talent in offering honest, authentic and extremely valuable advice back.

I have known Kate professionally for over 12 years and she has consistently surprised and impressed me with her ability to offer the full breadth of talent across branding – from a strong business acumen through to insightful creative solutions all supported with the ability to account direct and manage through to fruition. It’s genuinely a rare find to have all three in my many years of experience working within the industry!

On top of this, Kate is one of the most personable, down to earth people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. And a cracking laugh to boot.

Jamie Webb – Owner, Brighton Sports Therapy http://www.brightonsportstherapy.com

When I first met Kate I wasn’t aware I needed any brand development but her enthusiasm and vision for my business soon made me realise that she was exactly the person I was looking for – even if I didn’t know it. She was able to take that objective view that only someone outside the business can, and encapsulate the essence of my business better than I ever could. With a quick rejig of the website within 2 weeks I’m now receiving at least 30% more enquiries than before.

Philippa Craddock – Owner, Philippa Craddock http://www.philippacraddock.com

I started Philippa Craddock in 2010, right at the beginning of the recession!  I knew I needed a strong brand to give me a platform to achieve everything I wanted.  I chose Kate because she really listened and appreciated our ambitions despite the market we were working within, plus she has amazing creative flair and talent. Soon after our initial chat, Kate presented the perfect brand positioning for Philippa Craddock – a platform which not only fits us now but which gives us infinite room to grow.

We employ many freelancers in the floristry world and our clear brand positioning enables us to brief them all as though they were part of our company from the minute they came through the door – vital when you are doing large scale wedding or event flowers and everything has to run perfectly. Kate continues to work with us advising on marketing and business development and regularly copywrites for us. Kate has definitely helped our business to flourish.  We are now in partnership with Selfridges, we are in Tatler’s Ultimate Party Guide, we have a flower school and have supplied flowers for clients such as Jenny Packham, Lancome, Dior, the Saatchi Gallery and Westminster Cathedral.

Hayley Tilley  – Owner, Hayley Tilley Photography  http://www.hayleytilley.co.uk

I contacted Kate to try ‘Marketing in a Morning’.  It was the best decision.  Kate took time to understand my position as a working mum and offered me advice and support which has been both achievable and effective within the time I have available. We had a 2 hour phone conversation as we live hours away and from that I now have clear focus points in order to meet my marketing goals.  Kate has also gone above and beyond to help me with several flyers – both the concept and the copywriting.  I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Kate. I feel motivated, confident and ready to go. Thank you Kate!

Claire Brewer – Owner, Claire Brewer Photography http://www.clairebrewerphotography.co.uk

When I first met Kate I was a just starting out as a photographer.  Before too long I found myself stuck in terms of business development and marketing and I mentioned this to Kate.  She explained the concept of ‘Marketing in a Morning’ to me which seemed like a good idea. Within a couple of hours, Kate had given me a clear, concise and honest appraisal of where I am now, where I want to be and how to get there.  She had pulled me out of my muddle and given me a step by step guide to achieve my goals.  I felt excited, invigorated and undaunted.  For self-employed folk with limited budget, this type of marketing is fantastic, I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Neil Sinclair – Director, Pretty Green Energy http://www.prettygreenenergy.co.uk

We started talking to Fox Brand Marketing in the very early days of our start up, dealing in renewable energy.  In our minds our offering was clear, renewable energy, government cash backs and long term savings, but we found positioning ourselves in the increasingly congested market, working out our target audience and distilling our message was more complicated than we initially thought.  Kate at Fox Brand Marketing helped us position ourselves confidently, she invented our name, honed down our target audience and simplified what we wanted to say and how to say it.  She made launching our business exciting again and I’m convinced her early input has allowed Pretty Green Energy to be the success it is today.

Georgie Payne – Owner, Interiors by Georgie http://www.interiorsbygeorgie.com

I am very happy with the work that we did together and you did for me on my brand positioning. Once I understood what the likely outcome of the process would be, I signed up straight away quietly thinking that this was probably going to be the most important process I was likely to carry out for my business. And I think it is. Without a doubt. The branding work has helped crystallise the detail of my business idea and brand. I feel much more confident about it now in fact I see it as an initial road map. Now I just have to take the next brave steps!

Abigail East – Director, Effectus People Solutions Ltd and Associate Consultant for the CIPD

I have worked in HR for 20 years. Initially within Accenture and then as HR Director at Hay Group.  When I decided to start my own company I wanted to create a brand that focussed on performance: helping individuals through coaching as well as tackling people-related issues to improve organisational performance. My biggest problem however, was naming my company. In an already overcrowded market I was surrounded by jargon and companies using the same language, I felt it was impossible to differentiate myself. Kate, at Fox Brand Marketing, turned the issue on its head.  After just one meeting and a couple of calls, she came up with ‘Effectus’.  It means ‘performance’ in Latin.  I loved how she side stepped the issue and gave me a name that speaks for itself as well as delivering my core positioning. Absolutely perfect!
